What to Wear: Concert Edition

What to Wear: Concert Edition

| April 9, 2013 | 0 Comments

I just came from a truly fantastic recital that a very talented baritone friend of mine gave. Sitting in the audience, I suddenly had a thought: many of us don’t really know what to wear to certain events. Here in America, which has a way more casual sense of concert dress than, say, the German’s [...]

Sun, Sun, Sun: 3 Outdoor Must-Haves

Sun, Sun, Sun: 3 Outdoor Must-Haves

| April 8, 2013 | 0 Comments

I can’t believe the sun’s been out for more than two days in a row. It might seem cruel to grant us all this outdoors beauty in mid-April, when what little motivation to prep for finals is swept away by laying out on the greens of your campus because the sunshine is so, so, so nice.

This spring, cut-out garments are no longer limited to scandalous party dresses — wardrobe essentials such as flowing tee shirts, basic button-ups, and even leggings are getting a new look. Wearable in so many different ways, possibilities for this trend are [...]

5 Dos and Don’ts of Thrifting

| April 3, 2013 | 0 Comments

Everyone loves scoring a great deal at the mall. But as trends come and go, the best deals are no longer being found at commercial retailers. Authentic vintage apparel, as well as tons of other unique pieces, is available at secondhand shops for a fraction of modern-day prices. However, the idea of thrifting can be overwhelming; [...]

Pastels are where it’s at this spring and the hottest cool tone of them all is going to be mint green. Mint is so lovely for spring because it feels fresh and clean when you wear it, and it’s super trendy. Mint is normally recognized as a preppy color, but because it is so on [...]

I’m writing this post from NOLA Louisiana, under slightly tired circumstances, but I felt compelled to tell the world about the great style that can be found here in New Orleans! The crescent city definitely has a party atmosphere, and people reflect that in their clothes in the greatest of ways. Below are three looks inspired by my time here thus far.

The Skinny on High-Rise Jeans

The Skinny on High-Rise Jeans

| March 31, 2013 | 0 Comments

It’s hard to believe that only a few short years ago high-rise jeans were seen by the industry as one of fashion’s biggest sins; hardly anyone wore this style of pants for fear of their less-than-flattering fits and more-than-negative “soccer mom” connotation. Today, it is nearly impossible to step foot on a college campus (or [...]

Combating Weather: Sunny Days and Windy Nights

Combating Weather: Sunny Days and Windy Nights

| March 29, 2013 | 0 Comments

It’s a miracle I’ve survived this long with the consistently fluctuating weather in New England; some days I still ponder upon my decision to move across the continent for college. While hometown Vancouver, BC requires a must-have of rain boots and a lack of leather jackets on most rainy days, the high-temperature sunshine with mad dashing across campus during the day reveals dripping sweat with a warmer outfit and the still-really-fucking-chilly evening wind leave shivers wracking your body.

What to do, oh what to do, if you’re that busy person who never has time to go back to your room to grab that extra jacket? Fear not, fashionistas. Through trial-and-error (and believe me, I’ve gone through many a freezing 11pm trek back from rehearsal), I’ve compiled this handy-dandy list of how to combat the finicky transition-into-spring weather.
