Show School Spirit in Style: Conventional College Gear Made Cute

| August 21, 2012 | 0 Comments

As school starts up again, the one thing on your mind (besides a daunting workload) is probably the first football game. While the biggest dilemma the players face is how to score the game winning touchdown, you might be searching for a different sort of solution-what to wear to the game. College brand tees, pants, and shorts are often more comfortable than they are cute, and more free flowing than they are fitted and flattering. So how do you maintain your sense of fashion without sacrificing your sense of school spirit (or at least make it look like you’re a die hard fan even if you have no clue what’s actually going on in the game)? Consider the style swaps below for some ideas:

Swap the Big Tee for..

A crop top. Many college bookstores have a section of apparel devoted to women’s clothing alone.  Basic tees on these racks will likely sport a slightly more feminine cut. Rather than look and feel overwhelmed in an oversized tee, choose an off the shoulder cropped cut if you plan to show your spirit on your shirt.

Swap the Pinny for…

A fitted tank. As fun as it can be to get in touch with your “inner lax bro”, you might not always want to look so, well, bro. To give off a more feminine vibe, opt for a fitted racerback.

Swap the Sweatpants for…

Fitted athletic pants or leggings. Sweatpants are great for studying in bed, but may not look so chic when you’re out cheering for your team. Substitute loose drawstrings with fitted foldovers or cropped yoga pants for a more put together look.

Swap the Sweatshirt for…

A classic pullover.  You couldn’t possibly look more collegiate (or cute) than when you’re donning a cable knit v neck embellished with your school’s logo. Choose a sweater for a slightly more dressy show of spirit.
