For all of those that have never made cupcakes before. You are missing out. This statement is coming from a guy. Cupcakes are so stupidly easy to make, and they add such a ridiculous element to a party that you would be a fool not to make a ton for your next college house party. Without further ado, here are some recipes that go well with various college party themes.

Rainbow Cupcake

The rainbow cupcake is great for color oriented college parties like the rubiks cube party. You might want to pair them with some rainbow ice cubes, rainbow cake, or some rummy bears.

Glitter Cupcakes

Glitter cupcakes are best paired with a college party theme that involves lots of flashing lights. Something like the flashlight party, or the Bling Ball.

Glowing Cupcakes

These cupcakes are best made when you are having a black light party or another party that involves the use of a black light.

Death By Sugar

Serve these cupcakes if you want every one of your guests to develop type 2 diabetes. These cupcakes can be served at any party.

Acid Cupcakes

Clearly these cupcakes don’t exist. Simply put, if you can engineer these cupcakes to do this effect without having your guests take a bunch of acid you need to email us right away. We want the recipe.

Ornate Cupcakes

These types of cupcakes are ridiculously hard to make, but if you are going to make them you might as well pair them with the Moroccan theme party.

Character Cupcakes

These cupcakes are probably too hard for most people to make, but if you have the skills these cupcakes go well with the Famous Couple party and the Toon land Party.

Hipster Cupcakes

I say hipster because these cupcakes clearly aren’t trying to hard, and they definitely belong at the hipster party.

Lotus Cupcakes

These colorful cupcakes go well with the Holi party. If you don’t know what Holi is you are missing out big time. It is possibly one of the most amazing events in the world.

Ke$ha Cupcake

This cupcake doesn’t make sense and reaches a level of gaudiness only achieve by pop stars like Ke$ha. This cupcake is best for lingerie parties or sexy handcuff parties.

Sparkler Cupcake

This cupcake is bright, vibrant, and can easily set your house on fire in no time. This cupcake is best paired with parties that already have fire involved like the Moroccan party or a party with a fire pit.

Special Cupcake

This cupcake is pretty straightforward. It will get you high as a kite. This cupcake is best paired with a college party that has hookahs, bongs, and other smokeables.

Mix and Match

These cupcakes are best paired with a college party theme like the abc party or the rubiks cube party.

GO FORTH AND MAKE CUPCAKES

It’s time. After far too long, Game of Thrones has finally returned to HBO for it’s 3rd season. And while mutton, mead and flagons of ale would do well at your Game of Thrones Theme Party, so too would the addition of this drinking game.

The Starks, Lannisters and the Targaryens are on a collision course this season, and the only thing that could make things more eventful is to be thoroughly smashed while watching the inevitable destruction that is bound to ensue. So raise your glasses, flagons and wineskines, fellow viewers, and wave proudly your raging throner. I know I’ve got one.

Take a drink when:

People are having sex

Drink again if it’s incest

Tywin is an awful Father

Someone calls Tyrion a half-man

John is referred to as a Bastard

Someone on the show take a drink

Someone says “A Lannister Always Pays His Debts”

Every time Sansa acts innocent or foolish

Every time Jeoffry is a Dickhead. Twice if he kills them.

Daenerys refers to herself as the Mother of Dragons

Take A Shot When:

A major character dies

Somebody mentions Ned Stark

Winter is coming.

Every time Arya says her mantra of people she wishes to kill mercilessly

Finish The Bottle If:

You catch yourself saying “The book was muuuuuuuuuuch better”

So there you have it. This game is not for the faint of heart – it will DEFINITELY get you wrecked. If you end up drunker than Robert Baratheon after a pig hunt…don’t say we didn’t warn you

I never set much store by the supposed meteorological “expertise” of Punxsutawney Phil (yes, I had to google the correct spelling), and if this past weekend was any indication, it looks as though winter is here to stay for a little while longer. At some point, cabin fever will hit, and ‘ruit, Swishy-Swishy-No Face, and Finger Chess will only retain its novelty for so long. Enter Capture the Six-Pack.

Hike up those snow boots and dress in a couple of layers. This beloved childhood pastime with a collegiate twist is best played on any college green that has a shit ton of snow on it.

You will Need the Following:

1. 2 teams of at least 6 players each. Ideally each team has some kind of bond (ex. same Freshman Unit, preferred dining hall, major, etc.).

2. 2 different six-packs. May want to add more depending on number of people playing.

3. A few flasks of a liquor each team finds to be abhorrent.

How to Play:

Each team takes a six-pack and hides their cans throughout the designated field. Each can functions as a piece of the other team’s “flag.” Like regular Capture the Flag, the object of the game is to find all of the cans and bring them back to your team’s home-base before getting tagged. If you are tagged while holding one of the opposing team’s cans, the opposing team can re-hide their can and you must remain frozen until tagged back in by a teammate. If you are tagged 3 times by a member of the opposing team, you’re out of the game.

There are 2 Twists:

1. There are two ways you can secure the other team’s can. One is by physically bringing the can back to your home-base. The other is by successfully shot-gunning the other team’s can anywhere on the field before you can be tagged out.

2. If you’re tagged by the other team while holding one of their cans, you will have to take a shot from one of the flasks of foul-tasting liquor.

A gummy bear chandelier will add an element of ridiculousness to your party that can only be achieved by a proteinaceous fruit snack suspended from your ceiling.

It is colorful, it is tasty, and it will entertain your guests to no end. Well, that is, if your guests don’t devour the entire chandelier by the end of the night.

How to Make a Gummy Bear Chandelier

All you need to make a gummy bear chandelier is:

String

A Needle

Staple Gun and Staples (or tape)

Hook Screw

A fuck ton of Gummy Bears!!!

Directions

Screw the hook into the ceiling, and tie a 2 foot length of string to the screw hook. Let the string dangle, and tie a loop at the end of the string.

Cut hundred of strings that measure 3-5 feet in length (the length will impact the way the chandelier drapes).

One-by-one, string the gummy bears onto those strings using a needle (as you would with popcorn on a christmas tree).

In a circle around the ring hook that you previously screwed into the ceiling, you should staple, tape, or otherwise fasten the strings to the ceiling.

At this point you will have what looks like a cylinder of gummy bears hanging from the ceiling.

LASTLY, take the ends of the strings that you have fastened to the ceiling, and one-by-one you should tie the ends into the loop you created on the center string that is attached to the ring screw.

You Now Have a Gummy Bear Chandelier!

It Doesn’t End with Gummy Bears…

You don’t have to do this with gummy bears. It could be gummy worms, gummy cokes, or even hard candy.

These are dark days for hockey fans. The NHL lockout is looking like it’s going all the way to federal court (no shit), at this point meaning that the entire 2012-2013 season is all but canceled. For those of us who love the sport, this year there will be no pre and post game shit talking, no celebratory drinking after a win, and no rioting after an embarrassing loss in the Stanley Cup Finals (suck it, Vancouver). Now more than ever, hockey fans need something to be happy about. Enter Beer Hockey.

Beer Hockey is a fast paced drinking game, full of aggression, curse words, and violence (just like real hockey!). You might as well give it a try, since it’s the only kind of hockey you’ll be enjoying this winter, unless you…you know…play hockey or something.

What You Need:

A quarter. If you already gave your last quarter to that homeless guy outside the gas station, just kindly ask him for it back. I’m sure he’ll be happy to oblige.

Beer bottles. Or cans. Preferably full.

A table, or table-shaped object (such as a table).

Friends. Real ones, I mean. Not the creepy internet kind. The real-life, borrow-money-from-you-and-never-pay-you-back kind.

Basic Play:

Everyone gathers around a table, placing a single full bottle or can in front of them. If the game is played with four players, everyone takes a corner. If the game is played with more than four players, stand in a circle. Make sure everyone is about equidistant to one another, and try not to have any more than six players in one game—things tend to get a bit messy with any more.

Someone (usually the player everyone agrees is the coolest/sexiest) first spins the quarter on the table. This person is called the Spinner.

Immediately after spinning the quarter, the Spinner then calls out a player’s name. It can be anyone else on the table, and that person immediately becomes the Shooter.

Everyone except the shooter must quickly guard their beers using their pinky and index fingers (but not their knuckles), as shown below. They are the Goalies.

Immediately after the Shooter’s name has been called, they are free to smack the quarter at whosever beer they choose. If the quarter hits someone else’s beer, it’s a goal.

When a goal is scored, the Shooter collects the quarter and spins it again, and the player who the goal was scored on must drink until the quarter is done spinning. After the player is done drinking, he or she becomes the new Spinner, and a new round starts.

If the Shooter’s shot misses, or is rebounded by the fingers of the Goalie, it is still in play, as long as it remains on the table and spinning. In fact, even if it hits a beer for a goal, as long as the quarter is still spinning it remains in play. Any other player may then attempt to swat it at someone else for another goal. Because of this, it is possible to sometimes have two or more players drinking after consecutive goals in a single round. In this event, the player whose beer was hit first becomes the Spinner in the next round.

If the quarter is launched off the table, the player whose beer was aimed at becomes the new Spinner.

Advanced Rules:

Flicking: After a goal, while the quarter is spinning and the player who was scored upon is drinking, any player can attempt to flick the quarter to prolong its spin time. The player drinking must drink until the quarter stops spinning, unless they happen to finish their drink (which we’ll talk more about in a second). If a player accidentally flicks the quarter off the table in this manner, he or she must take a drink.

Pulling the Ropes: In the event that a drinking player is about to finish their drink while the quarter is still spinning, they must make a fist pumping motion in the air. This is called “pulling the ropes.” It lets every other player know to get ready, because as soon as their drink is finished the player can slam it down on the table and attempt a redemption shot at anyone’s beer. If the drinking player does not “pull the ropes,” then his or her redemption shot is illegal and considered null and void.

Spin-Stopping: The riskiest of all ventures in Beer Hockey. During the after goal quarter spin, any player may attempt to gently stop the quarter’s spin by bringing their hand down upon it, making it stand up on edge. If this is done correctly, and the quarter stands, the player drinking must finish their drink and are allowed no redemption shot. If the player attempting to Spin-Stop fails to stop the quarter on its edge, they must finish their drink instead.

Penalties:

Knuckling: When guarding one’s beer, a player must keep the knuckles of their index and middle finger off to the side. Only a slight touch of the tip of the knuckles to the glass is permitted. Any further encroachment of the knuckles is referred to as Knuckling, and is a penalty. Any player penalized for Knuckling must take a drink and agree to stop being a cheating jackass.

Failure to Spin: On any new round, if a Spinner fails two consecutive attempts to spin the quarter, he or she must take a drink, and relinquish his or her spinning duties to the player on the left.

Spin Out: Similarly, if a Spinner accidentally sends the quarter spinning off the table at the beginning of a round, it is declared a Spin Out. The former Spinner must then take a drink, and the player to the left of them becomes the new Spinner.

You got all that? Of course you do. But, just in case you’re one of those “visual learners” the fancy book-teachin’ lady at my college keeps referring to, here’s a video detailing the official rules.

Hold on to your frigid nether regions; winter has finally come—and unlike your deadbeat father, it’s here to stay. For pow-shredders, gnar-lovers, and whatever other goofy ass buzzwords people are using to refer to skiers and snowboarders nowadays, this ski season is shaping up to be whiter than the entire cast of Friends. (Is that joke too dated? Fuck you, I thought it was clever.) Suffice is to say that Irving Berlin and cocaine enthusiasts everywhere aren’t the only ones dreaming of a white Christmas.

But what if you’re too uncoordinated to ski or snowboard, like me? (Ok, I confess: I’m actually very coordinated, and am incredibly good at both skiing and snowboarding, as well as pretty much every other sport in general; I was just saying that to make you feel better about yourself.) Don’t despair, and for the love of God don’t set foot on the mountain (you’ll just end up embarrassing yourself). Instead, grab a ski and some friends, because we’re going to make a shot ski; proving once and for all that winter sports and hard alcohol are a winning combination (just ask Michael Kennedy).

Now, there’s two ways you can do this. As with everything in life, you can make your shot ski well, or you can make it fast. Which you choose is entirely up to you. I’ll judge you on your decision of course, but only a little bit.

What You Need (The Fast Way)

A ski. The length is up to you, but the amount of shot glasses you want to mount will depend on it. For the purposes of this guide, we’ll say that 60 inches is optimal.

Shot glasses. This guide calls for four, but the amount is really up to you.

A tape measure. Preferably self-retracting coiled metal kind. Those are fun to play with.

A Sharpie. Or some other kind of permanent marker that isn’t a Sharpie, if you’re a nonconformist.

Some kind of regular ol’ household epoxy, if you’re a pansy. 3M Marine 5200 Adhesive Sealant if you’re a fuckin’ boss.

Rubber bands. Finally, you actually have a use for them!

Sandpaper. Any old kind will do.

What You Need (The Good Way)

A ski. Older ones are ideal, because they’re not only cheap, but also have less composite materials for you to drill through. Oh yeah, SPOILER ALERT: You’re going to be drilling through it.

Shot glasses. See above.

A tape measure. See above.

A Sharpie. Or not-Sharpie. See above.

A standard power drill. Your dad probably has one, but he probably won’t let you borrow it.

A 1½ inch hole saw drill bit. Can be found in any hardware store/creative serial killer’s arsenal of weapons.

Sandpaper. Any old kind will still do.

How to Do the Damn Thing (The Fast Way):

Step 1. First things first. Bust out that tape measure, we’re going to measure out where our shot glasses are going to go. Uniformity is key here.

Now for the purposes of this article, let’s say you’ve got a 60 inch ski, and four shot glasses. If you place the first shot glass six inches from the end of the ski, that leaves you with 16 inches of space between each shot glass, as illustrated in this beautiful and utterly not to scale diagram below:

If your ski is longer than 60 inches, just fudge the numbers a little, or even add another shot glass if you want. You just need to make sure you allow at least 15 inches between shot glasses (so the people drinking from them aren’t humping each other), and a few inches on the end to give people something to hold on to.

Step 2. With your Sharpie or off-brand permanent marker, mark off the spot where you want each shot glass to go.

Step 3. Using your sandpaper, rough up the spots where you’re going to affix your shot glasses. If it helps, pretend the ski owes you money or something.

Step 4. Put a liberal dab of epoxy down on a marked off spot on the ski, and press your shot glass right up against it. I like to pretend that the ski is me, and the shot glass is that girl from my high school who had a unibrow. Ah, junior prom was a special night. Repeat for as many shot glasses as you want your shot ski to hold.

Step 5. Wrap your rubber bands over the top of the shot glasses and under the bottom of the ski to keep them pressed together in a nice little sandwich, and set the whole contraption aside for a few hours.

Step 6. Once the epoxy has dried, you’re done. Congratulations! You took the easy way out yet again. Your shot ski should hold up just fine (especially if you used that badass Marine adhesive I told you to use), but you will have to wash the entire thing by hand, and it won’t look as nice as if you’d done it The Good Way. If you really want the ultimate in form and function, keep reading.

How to Do the Damn Thing (The Good Way)

Step 1. Same as above.

Step 2. Same as above.

Step 3. Just like the Republican Party’s general attitude prior to the 2010 BP Oil Spill, now it’s time to drill, baby, drill! (That’s right. I just made a classy political joke. Deal with it.)

Attach your hole saw bit to your drill, and touch the thin drill bit protruding from the center of the circle (known as the pilot drill) to the spot you marked on your ski. Then drill right through that fucker, using this handy diagram as your guide:

WARNING: Skis are typically made out of polycarbonates and other nasty stuff, so protect your eyes when you’re drilling into them, unless you really, really want a nice new piece of plastic for a cornea.

Repeat for as many shot glasses as you want your shot ski to hold.

Step 4. Sand the inside edges of the holes, and you’re done! Since a standard shot glass fluctuates from 1¼ to 1¾ inches from bottom to top, and the holes you drilled are 1½ inches in diameter, most standard shot glasses should drop right in, and be held in place by friction. The advantage of going this route over The Fast Way is that your shot glasses are now removable, and can be easily taken out and washed. Plus it just looks so damn professional.

Step 5. There is no step five! You’re done! And I am so proud of you. For once in your miserable life, you took the time to do things right. High five! Now if only you had friends to drink out of this with…

Since the holiday season comes once a year, it’s only right to make sure you’re extra festive – like balls to the walls festive. Why not get in the true holiday spirit with some holiday themed drinks? All of your favorite holiday flavors can be found in these spiked Christmas beverages. Warning: don’t get too crazy drinking these, just enjoy them for their flavor. You don’t want anyone saying you’re a “ho ho ho” over your winter break, that’s no fun.

Candy Cane Cocktail

1 ½ ounces of vanilla vodka (splurge for Absolut or save with Burnett’s)

1 ½ ounces of white chocolate liqeur (look for Godiva)

3/2 ounces of peppermint schnapps (Dekuyper and Allen’s make versions)

Directions: Chill your glasses ahead of time. Put everything into a cocktail shaker and shake like your life depends on it for 30 seconds. Pour and enjoy!

Adult Hot Cocoa

1 quart whole milk (or 2%, but avoid fat free for this recipe)

½ cup peppermint schnapps

½ pound chocolate chopped into small, small pieces (any chocolate bar variation will do)

Whipped cream

Directions: Warm half of the milk on low in a sauce pan and don’t let it boil (gross). Stir it while adding in your chopped chocolate until everything is melted and mixed in together. Add in the other half of the milk and keep heating it. After it’s all hot and glorious looking, take it off the stove and stir in your schnapps. Put a dab of whipped cream on top.

Sugar Cookie Martini

1 crushed sugar cookie (as a rim garnish, if you feel like being fancy)

2 ounces of Irish cream (splurge for Baileys, I beg you)

1 ounce of vanilla vodka

1 ounce of butterscotch schnapps (Dekuyper or whatever you like best)

Directions: If you want to garnish your rim, coat the rim with water then dip your cookie crumbles into it. Next, shake everything in a cocktail shaker as hard as you can for 30 seconds. Your drink awaits you.

Apple Jack

1 oz Jack Daniel’s

Apple cider

Directions: Simple mixed drink, but with a holiday cider punch. Just mix them together and drink over ice.

Spiked Eggnog

Eggnog (whatever kind you see at your grocery store, I usually go for the canned one)

Rum

Directions: Mix away! It’s a classic.
