Pitbull’s line in “On the Floor” by JLo still rings loud and clear in my head, thanks to mainstream radio playing the same songs over and over and over again: “Brazil, Morocco, London, straight to Ibiza.” And if you’ve heard Swedish House Mafia’s song ”Miami 2 Ibiza,” or realized that Afrojack’s “Replica” album is called “Sound of Ibiza,” then you may have guessed at some point that Ibiza has some sort of EDM significance.Other notable artists who mention Ibiza in their songs include Vengaboys, Mike Candys, Midnight Beast, and believe it or not, Pink Floyd.

Well, it turns out that this “Ibiza” is in fact a small island off the coast of Spain. But not just any island. It’s the party island. Of the world. Wikipedia offers this: “The relatively small island and its cities have become world-famous for their associations with tourism, nightlife, and the electronic music the island has originated. It is well known for its summer club parties which attract large numbers of tourists.”

Some of the history of Ibiza is actually pretty cool: that is, Ibiza is a major part of the origin of modern dance and electronic music, as well as club scenes. In 1988, Ibiza began to be the dance/electronic club capital of the world, bought strictly for tourism and clubbing. And through the 80′s and 90′s, a new type of electronic music emerged called Balearic Beat/House, also appropriately known as the “sound of Ibiza,” named after none other than the Balearic island of Ibiza. This summer, some of my favorite EDM artists in Ibiza will include:

And now Ibiza is not only home to the biggest EDM concerts in the world, but other genres as well. Not to mention Will.I.Am, Wiz Khalifa and J. Cole at various clubs. Click here for a complete list of all 2012 Ibiza performers broken down by club. Well… Sign me up. I knew clubbing in Spain was already world-renowned, but who knew they had a whole island just for that, with its own unique sound.

Hopefully you're familiar with one of the greatest drinking games out there: Kings. Unlike other drinking games, this one keeps players mentally engaged and stimulated at all times (and people say getting drunk is always bad for your brain...) However, due to the mental rigor of the game, sometimes it can be pretty challenging to not get totally FUBAR, so any help you can get is a plus, and I'm here to help you.

Unlike other drinking games, this one keeps players mentally engaged and stimulated at all times (and people say getting drunk is always bad for your brain). However, due to the mental rigor of playing Kings, sometimes it can be pretty challenging to not get totally FUBAR, so any help you can get is a plus.

So I’m here to help you. THE NEW RULE we’re going to focus on is the Jack. When you pull a Jack from the deck, you are supposed to make up a rule that all players, including you, must follow for the entirety of the game, and if at any point in the game a player breaks the rule, he or she has to drink.

I’ve always played where the rules build up on each other, but there are others who play that each new Jack voids the last one. Either way, this rule is a necessary addition to your game of Kings. From now on, your new rule is called “Man On A Ledge”.

The rule is this: On the rim of every player’s cup lives a tiny man. Any time a player has to drink, for any reason, before picking up his or her cup, he or she must remove the invisible tiny man from the rim of his or her cup, place the man on the table next to the cup, take a drink, and then place the man back on the rim of the cup after drinking.

If, for any reason, the player even begins to pick up the cup without first removing the man, or places the cup back down without putting back the man, he or she must drink again. Upon drinking again, he or she must obey the same rule. You can see how one careless player who was originally supposed to take only one drink easily ends up taking 3 or 4 instead, by continually (and quite rudely) forgetting about the tiny invisible man on the ledge. The only warning I give you is that this rule inevitably ends with everyone pretty much destroyed, so be careful. And don’t forget about the man on the ledge!
