It’s time. After far too long, Game of Thrones has finally returned to HBO for it’s 3rd season. And while mutton, mead and flagons of ale would do well at your Game of Thrones Theme Party, so too would the addition of this drinking game.

The Starks, Lannisters and the Targaryens are on a collision course this season, and the only thing that could make things more eventful is to be thoroughly smashed while watching the inevitable destruction that is bound to ensue. So raise your glasses, flagons and wineskines, fellow viewers, and wave proudly your raging throner. I know I’ve got one.

• Somebody mentions Ned Stark
• Winter is coming. 
• Every time Arya says her mantra of people she wishes to kill mercilessly

Finish The Bottle If:

• You catch yourself saying “The book was muuuuuuuuuuch better”

So there you have it. This game is not for the faint of heart – it will DEFINITELY get you wrecked. If you end up drunker than Robert Baratheon after a pig hunt…don’t say we didn’t warn you

Getting drunk can be an expensive endeavor, especially if the bars are involved. After paying food and rent (which is still too damn high, let us remind you) there’s rarely any money left over for cocktails, let alone beer. Luckily you’ve been blessed with a beautiful, unique cash cow that you can exploit for every penny that it’s worth. That’s right, your body. Believe it or not, there are thousands of dollars to be made by pimpin’ out your corpse. Here’s how. 

Blood: 

Let’s get one thing straight before we dive into this. DON”T GIVE BLOOD AND DRINK. Ok. Now where were we. 

Giving blood is probably the oldest and most time-honored way to make a quick buck. It’s been utilized by vagabonds, travelers, and poor college students. There’s a reason for that, too. Your body is just making this shit, over and over and over. You’d be crazy not to capitalize! It’s a renewable resource that just keeps on giving. If anyone gives you shit, just remind them you’re helping people out and making the world a better place. Nobody can argue with that. 

It’s a lot harder to find people willing to play for blood (legally) these days, but there are still some hospitals or blood banks that might be interested. You’ll have to ask around.

Hair:

Look at yourself. Your body is literally producing gold by the second and you’re doing nothing about it. Hair is another renewable resource you can bank on to make you some extra pocket change.  There is a huge market of rich bald people that will pay cold, hard, cash for the chance to wear your hair as their own. Fine wigs made of human hair. That’s where the money’s at.

Sperm/Eggs:

The men definitely got the raw end of the deal here. Donating your sperm can net you $100. An egg? $5,000. Still, a guy that donates twice a week could get a cool $24,000 a year.  Careful though. You might end up like Ben Seisler. He has 70 kids.

Indentured Servitude:

Originally used to obtain passage to the new world, contract laborers to work your land, or other oppressive activity, indentured servitude is in serious need of a 21st century update. Luckily, college is rife with opportunities to sell your labor. A typical contract used to be for 3-7 years, but a month is probably a safer bet. Offer to do your roommates laundry, cooking, and homework in exchange for beer. You may lose some, if not all, of your dignity, but that’s a small price to pay for free booze. Plus, you probably won’t care since you’ll be drunk. 

Sex:

I considered not even putting this on here, but I guess it’s a required addition to any list about selling your body. It’s pretty much the original way to sell your body. Couple things to clear up. Yes, this is illegal. Yes, this is a good way to get and spread diseases. Yes, it will permanently ruin your reputation, especially in college. Still interested? Be my guest. I’m guessing there’s some weird shit on Craigslist you could get involved in.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we felt it prudent to offer a quick and dirty guide to getting drunk with family. It’s a necessary PSA, and one that isn’t covered nearly enough. Too often, college students make the mistake of thinking that their family members will appreciate their newfound drinking tolerance as much as their friends have. It leads to awkward drunken situations, and awkward talks the morning afterwards. 

Which Holiday Is It?

There are two types of holidays, family holidays and drinking holidays. St. Paddy’s Day? Drinking holiday. Mothers Day? That’s a family event. Sometimes the two overlap, however, and that’s what we’re dealing with here. Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc, occupy an interesting space in that they are family events that are also celebratory in nature, which means the booze is definitely coming out. 

Know Your Family

Does your family like to get rip-roaring drunk on the holidays? Cool. You really don’t have too much to worry about. For all intents and purposes, it’s a party.  So follow the regular party rules: Don’t pass out, don’t puke, don’t cry in public, and don’t, under any circumstances, make out with your cousin. 

Depending on your family, you could get in a lot of trouble trying to keep up. Uncle Rick has been slamming Bud Heavy’s since he was 13, and Aunt Judy hasn’t gone a day without a wine cooler in 7 years. Congratulations on your team winning that case rase last weekend, but you really don’t stand a shot here. Don’t try and be a hero. 

But if your family is a little more…proper, then chances are you’re going to have to be on better behavior. Even if you can polish of a bottle of wine or an entire 12-pack without batting an eyelash, it doesn’t mean mom and dad need to see it.

“But I’m an adult” you plead. “You should see how much my roommates drink” you cry. These arguments fall on deaf ears. Nobody’s parents want to see them binge drink. Even if you can keep it under control, to a parent there’s nothing scarier than watching someone drink 6 beers without any change in character. If you can do that, they’ll be correct in assuming that it’s a regular thing for you, and that’s not exactly the activity they thought they’de be bankrolling. 

Know Your Limits

It’s important to know your limits when drinking is involved. Whether it’s with family or friends, it will save you a lot of embarrassment to know a ballpark estimate of how much is too much. In the great words of Jeremy Grey from Wedding Crashers, “Draw attention to yourself, but on your own terms. “Don’t disrupt the flow of the gathering a.k.a., don’t start slurring your words before anyone else. In order to execute this rule, you need to have a pretty firm grasp on how alcohol affects you. You’re in college though, you should have plenty of experiential learning in this department.

The 2012 presidential election is neck and neck.  There’s a very clear difference between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama on just about everything; the two candidates stand at odds on most domestic, foreign, economic and social policy issues. Naturally, tensions are high.

What better way to relieve tension than to drink it away?

We thought it was only right to create an election day drinking game. Gather up your friends and set up shop

What You Will Need:

• Champagne
• Liquor of Your Choice
• A Television
• A Political Candidate To Support

Rules O’ The Presidential Election Day Drinking Game:

To play you have to vote. If you didn’t vote, you are a dickhead.  

For the purpose of this game, we will identify 9 states as swing states:

• Ohio
• Florida
• Colorado
• Nevada
• Pennsylvania (Leans Obama)
• North Carolina (Leans Romney)
• Wisconsin
• Iowa
• Virginia

Each person picks a candidate. It’s not a problem if everyone’s on the same side. 

1. Tune into your preferred channel for some presidential election coverage.
2. Prepare two glasses. One of champagne, another containing your liquor of choice. 
3. When the results are declared for one of the swing states you must drink. If your candidate was victorious, raise your champagne glasses skyward and celebrate your good fortune. If he loses, grumble about the inevitable destruction of our once great nation and take a shot. 
4. That’s it. As always, be safe. Don’t drink and drive.  If you are too drunk to drive and haven’t voted, call Obama for America, they will drive you for free.

For those of your not in the know, Everclear is a colorless, flavorless distilled grain alcohol that is available at 151 and 190 proof strengths (75.5% and 95% respectively). It is often used in the creating of punch drinks, like Jungle Juice and the famous Tucker Max Death Mix. While using Everclear definitely has it’s benefits, is it really something you want to put in your party drinks? Here are several reasons you might want to rethink putting Everclear in your jungle juice. 

You Can’t Soak Your Fruit:

Eating the fruit in jungle juice is one of the best parts of the drink. It’s potent and delicious, and it adds an extra dimension to an already exciting party drink. With Everclear, you can’t soak your fruit before you put it in the jungle juice. It tastes disgusting. And if you can’t soak the fruit, what’s the point of putting it in the drink in the first place. 

People Like Flavor:

There are a number of different ways to make Jungle Juice, but it’s important to remember that all booze is not created equal. People tend to think that because you can dump a bunch of Everclear into some overpowering artificial fruit flavoring and not taste the alcohol, that it the is optimal way to make jungle juice. We at the Party Lab disagree.

People ENJOY some kick to their jungle juice. That’s why you want to choose ingredients with complimentary flavors. If you are using tropical fruits and juices, Rum is the way to go. Vodka will fly under the radar so it’s a good way to add alcohol flavorlessly – but that’s not necessarily what we’re trying to do here. Whiskey goes well with citrus flavors and iced teas. Don’t forget your various schnapps and liquors, which, as long as your flavors match up, will be an excellent addition to your jungle juice.

It Can Be Dangerous:

Everclear is almost twice as strong as almost all other liquors. Combine that with the fact that many people make Jungle Juice so that party-goers can’t taste the alcohol, and you’ve got a dangerous combination. People should know what they are drinking. Nothing will ruin a party quicker than vomiting or unconscious guests. If you want to keep your party going, don’t overload your mix with Everclear. Sometimes there’s nothing wrong with having moderately alcoholic drinks. Everyone will still have a good time, promise.

It’s almost October, which means it’s time to start preparing for Halloween. And what better way to do that than to make Halloween Jungle Juice, or Witches Brew’. There are a couple different things going on here that aren’t normally in Jungle Juice, like brown sugar, nutmeg, and orange peels. These ingredients will give your potion a distinctly Halloween feel that will be perfect for any college party celebration. 

What You’ll Need:

• A Cauldron
• 1 Cup crushed Brown Sugar
• Grated Nutmeg
• 2 Orange Peel
• 5L Rum
• 2 L Mango Juice
• 2 L Pineapple Juice
• 2 L Orange Juice
• .5 – 1 L Blue Curacao
• Juice of two Limes
• Chunks of Mango
• Chunks of Pineapple
• Chunks of Orange
• Dry Ice

The smoking effect that you see above comes from dry ice, the solid form of Carbon Dioxide. When you add water to dry ice, it will produce a dense cloud of smoke-like fog. It looks really cool in action and will definitely turn some heads when people want to start drinking.

A Word of Warning About Dry Ice:

It WILL burn you if it touches your skin, and it WILL result in a trip to the hospital if someone were to drink it. For that reason, you should not, under any circumstances, put the dry ice directly into your punch. 

The safer (and better) method is to use two bowls. Simply place the dry ice in a metal or plastic container half-filled with hot water.  Then place your cauldron with the Jungle Juice into it. It will still give off smoke and look awesome, don’t worry.

I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of Hahn beer before I stumbled across one of their advertisements on Youtube. It’s a shame this beer is Australian based because I’d be drinking it with pride and honor if I had the option. It’s not often that a marketer has you laughing out loud or tipping your cap in acknowledgement to their wit.

Well hats off to the boys at Hahn beer, because I watched everything they had to offer, and I’ve come to the conclusion that this is the best ad campaign for a beer I’ve ever seen. I mean right up there with Real Men of Genius, Brilliant and Wassssuppp.

What’s most impressive is the pacing. A normal ad is 30 seconds of adrenaline, but these unfold over a minute and a half, and not once did I open another tab, quit out, or check to see if anyone texted me. That’s practically black magic in this day and age.
