Moroccan Theme Party

THEME DESCRIPTION

There are very few parties as inviting, relaxing, and laid back as the Moroccan party. This theme is all about the luxe life and party atmosphere. If you are a fan of the Blanket Fort Party you’ll be a fan of the Moroccan party. Often times the two go hand in hand.

IMPLEMENTATION

Throwing a Moroccan party involves a good deal of preparation.  Hanging blankets, arranging sitting areas, brewing coffee, lighting lanterns, and a ton of other menial tasks. Regardless, the work pays off when people show up at your party and are immediately lulled into a sense of hedonistic relaxation.

MATERIALS

Most of the materials you need for a moroccan party are available at Goodwill, but you can also check Amazon, and local thrift shops. These are all fantastic places to find what you need for a Moroccan party.

  • Pillow / Cushions
  • Lanterns
  • Blankets
  • Chimineas / fire pits / fire
  • Hookah
  • Coffee
  • Shisha
  • Candles
  • Incense

DRINKS

Red Bull and Vodka?? Let’s talk Turkish coffee and Patron XO Cafe.  It might not be the drink for everyone so you should make sure to have a variety of other drinks at your party as well. However, nothing gets people relaxed and then bouncing off the walls like turkish coffee.

SMOKABLES

If you are going to throw a Moroccan theme party it would be a crime not to have a Hookah present. Not necessarily for weed. Shisha can be just as good. The two best types are Starbuzz and Social Smoke. Code 69 by Starbuzz is a TCC favorite…obviously.

MUSIC

The best way to find good music for a Moroccan Party is to hop on over to 8tracks.com and do a quick tag search for “Hookah.”  There are an abundance of bad-ass (usually Middle-Eastern/Punjabi themed) playlists with music that really has the right flavor, but that doesn’t discourage dancing.

KEYS TO SUCCESS

It is a delicate balance at a Moroccan party.  You want people to dance and engage in the regular party activities, but you also want to allow them maximum chillitude.  Further, the single most important part of a Moroccan party is to NOT burn your house down.

CAVEATS

As with any party that involved blankets and fire, there will be obviously safety concerns. Make sure that you are very careful about your lantern arrangements, that you don’t have fire indoors, etc. Don’t be stupid when it comes to fire and throwing parties.

Also, smoking hookah an drinking coffee does not facilitate great smelling breath. Just saying.
