5 Reasons People Love Shots at a Party

College students tend to measure a party’s quality by the number of kegs that it has, but this is only because they have not been to enough parties that deviate from this keg-paradigm to think in any other way.  Truly, the mark of a superior party is not just a large quantity of alcohol but also the diversity.  The following are five reasons why most people actually LOVE shots at a party.  

#1  Not Everyone Likes Beer

Ok, so you go to a party and pay $5 for a cup.  What then?  If you really don’t care for beer, then the night ahead will likely not be very pleasant which only adds insult to injury for having paid $5.  For this reason, having shots at a party creates more opportunities for everyone to have fun and enjoy themselves, and the people who dislike beer will really appreciate it.

#2  Shots are Very Social

You can drink a beer or a cup of jungle-juice while standing near someone, but no drinking experience builds camaraderie the way taking shots does (except pounding Irish Car Bombs).  Making a new friend or acquaintance at a party with shots is as easy as pointing your finger and saying “YOU, come take a shot with me!”  

#3  They are Efficient

You cannot deny that after drinking a beer or two, you start to feel kind of full and uncomfortable, not to mention how much you have to pee.   Shots are a welcome reprieve after that first or second beer when you want another drink, but don’t want to continue to force more fluid into your body.  Plus, you know what they say….candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.

#4  Variety

Maybe it is just part of our consumer-capitalist nature, but we, the people, love selection.  There is something about having choices that just feels so great, and shots can truly embrace that feeling.  If you provide your guests with a few options, they will love you for it.  

#5  Prestige

Being the guy who threw the party with three or four kegs is awesome, but you know what is better?  Being the guy who threw the raging party with three kegs, 10 different bottles of assorted flavored vodkas, whiskey, and tequila, as well as 30 bottles of Champagne.  Get on that level.
