Sometime you just have to laugh at how stupid the most educated people are. The college youth – with their free access to student health services- are the most resilient when it comes to finding ways to avoid doctors. It’s as if somewhere along the line, we have forgotten we are not invincible. This is not to say that we haven’t always loathed a trip to the doctor’s office, but in a spectacular show of resistance, we most often find the dumbest excuses to get out of going. The following are common excuses used by college kids in their attempts to give you—the roommate – a reason NOT to take them to the hospital:
It’s so hard not to go apeshit crazy when the guy you dig exchanges numbers with you. But, drop that phone, missy and back away from it slowly! So many would-be relationships never come to fruition because of blunders girls make with texting during the critical early stages. As a result, you either get friend-zoned or just become a booty-call.
If you watched the presidential debates over the last few weeks, you probably at one point or another wondered “how much of what these people are saying is actually true?” That’s where fact checking websites like Politifact come in. They outline when our future leaders have their “pants on fire” from lying about a certain topic.
But what if we stretched the use of fact checkers in every arguments we may have with our significant others. Here are some of the results I imagine:
Alright. It’s time we got into a serious discussion about one of the most taboo topics on college campuses: sexual assault. This discussion comes in the wake of the recent (and justified) uproar over last week’s article printed in The Amherst Student, Amherst College’s student-run newspaper, in which rape survivor Angie Epifano discussed her horrifying experience and the atrocious way in which Amherst’s administration responded to the assault. It would be too easy to respond to this case by describing it as an isolated incident, but college students can only live in ignorance of these issues for so long. The fact remains that sexual assault is a major issue on college campuses and that this needs to come to an end right now.
When it comes to speaking to the ladies, choice of phrase is vital. Girls over think everything, and even your simplest comment could turn into the main conversation the next day with her girlfriends. Essentially, talking to a girl can kind of turn into walking on eggshells – you don’t know how she’ll take anything, so it’s better to be safe than sorry. There are grenades everywhere in the female mind, and here are the biggest comments to avoid.
