Work Smarter Not Harder Tip #7 – Google Translate

The “Work Smarter Not Harder!” series doesn’t suggest you completely shirk your responsibilities as a good student. Instead, it encourages you to work SMARTER, not HARDER. Today’s WSNH tip is Google Translate!

GOOGLE TRANSLATE

Google Translate  is both a gift and a curse. It will help you endlessly with your required language classes, but on the same hand, you may become dependent on it and fail to learn anything at all. Here are some of the features of Google Translate.

•  Translate Web Pages or Documents
• Translate into a breadth of different languages
• Voice Recognition and Oration

TOOLBAR

If you are looking to actually learn the language you are studying I suggest downloading the Google Translate toolbar instead of using the Google Translate web page.

The toolbar will allow you to move your cursor over an English word on whatever website you are browsing and view that word in the language that you set the toolbar too.

This tool is MUCH more efficient from an educational standpoint. Study bit by bit with the toolbar, and you will become fluent in no time.

MOBILE APPLICATIONS

Google Translate is available for mobile devices as well. This is a MUST DOWNLOAD app for when you go on a study abroad trip or are randomly visiting a foreign country. God forbid you didn’t study in your language classes, you can easily type something into google translate and communicate with the locals. It will even say your phrase or question in that language!
